UFC President Dana White has confirmed via twitter that former champion Cain Velasquez will now face Antonio “Big Foot” Silva at UFC 146 after his original opponent Frank Mir was officially moved to the main event against Junior Dos Santos.
“Don’t believe any of the BS you read on the internet. Cain is fighting Bigfoot Silva May 26th in Vegas” – @danawhite
Many had speculated that Fabricio Werdum was likely to step in but “Big Foot” gets the nod.
Roy Nelson is now left without an opponent for UFC 146, and has already fought Werdum back in February of this year.
With most top heavyweights already booked, Travis Browne could be an option if he doesn’t receive a lengthy medical suspension after his lob-sided victory over Chad “The Grave Digger” Griggs last night.
