The UFC announced tonight via their UFC UK twitter page that Irishman Conor McGregor’s Fox Sports 1 opponent Andy Ogle has been forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury and will be replaced by Max Holloway.
“Late-night news blast: Andy Ogle off UFC on FOXSports1 card; Conor McGregor now vs. Max Holloway” – @UFC_UK
We caught up with Conor McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh, to get his reaction to the news
“Stylistically this match up has more potential to be a real crowd pleaser as Holloway tends to strike more.”
“He presents an interesting set of problems and also has a pretty good name stateside so I believe he’s an excellent match up for conors us debut.”
“Prediction? Holloway is good technical fighter but I don’t see him getting out of the first round.”
“I’d also like to wish Ogle a speedy recovery, who knows maybe that match up can happen down the road.”
Holloway is 7-2 as a professional and is 3-2 in the UFC, losing a razor close split decision to TUF runner-up Dennis Bermudez at UFC 160 in May 2013 and losing via triangle armbar to highly touted Dustin Poirier back in February 2012.
The unfortunately named “UFC on FOX Sports 1 1” goes down 17th August at the TD Garden in Boston and will be headlined by Chael Sonnen vs ‘Shogun’ Rua
