After testing positive for performance enhancing drugs on a January 9th out-of-competition drug test before his UFC 183 bout with Nick Diaz, today Anderson Silva’s second out-of-competition drug test, which was taken on January 19th, has come back clean. The news was first reported by MMAFighting.com
Silva’s much publicized January 9th test saw the Nevada state athletic commission find steroids named drostanolone and androstane in his system – both of which are on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned list. A NSAC hearing and suspension from the sport are likely to follow in the coming weeks.
Speaking to MMAFighting.com Bob Bennett, the NSAC executive director, was noncommittal on what these test results could mean.
“I can’t speak for the chairman or be presumptuous in any way or comment on that,” Bennett told MMAFighting.com. “It’s not my position. We’re happy to get these results.”
Anderson Silva denies any use of performance enhancing drugs and promises to fight to clear his name.
