It’s bad news for Irish MMA fans planning to travel to Poland next month, as SBG veteran Aisling Daly’s opponent has been ruled out with injury – and Aisling will now not appear on the card. Her scheduled foe, Brazilian Claudia Gadelha, was due to travel to Europe for the 11th of April meeting at UFC Fight Night Poland but today announced on her twitter that she has suffered an injury and has been forced to pull out of the bout.
“I’m pulling out of my fight on April 11th in Poland” Gadelha said on her twitter account before deleting the message from Twitter and Instagram. “I had a muscle spasm in my back during wrestling training and felt a lot of pain in my neck and back”
“I hope to meet Aisling Daly soon to honour Brazil against Ireland as she talks shit just like her training partner McGregor” Gadelha went on to say.
Aisling confirmed the news via her Facebook fan page
“I am very sad to say this is true. I just wish we had been let know sooner in order to find a replacement. My apologies to anyone travelling to see me. Krakow is still a beautiful city and it will be a historic UFC card.
I have never talked shit about Claudia nor do I wish to in future. I wish her the best with her recovery. Hopefully you guys will see me in the Octagon again soon regardless “
Gadelha is 12-1 as professional having suffered her first defeat in a controversial decision loss against now UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk last December.
Daly is 15-5 and won her UFC debut back in December via first round armbar over TUF castmate Alex Chambers. Daly is a veteran of MMA having battled it out on the regional scene for years before getting into the ultimate fighter house via the auditions.
@WMMANews I was told there won't be a replacement me for this event.
