More good news today for Irish MMA fans travelling to Las Vegas for Conor McGregor’s featherweight title fight on July 11th against Jose Aldo as the UFC have announced a potential barn burner of a fight between fan favourites Matt Brown and Nathan Diaz. The news was confirmed by Ariel Helwani on UFC Tonight in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Diaz, a former lightweight title contender having lost to then champion Benson Henderson, moves back up to welterweight for the summer scrap where he will try to get back to winning ways having lost three of his last four at 155 lbs.
It will be a tough test, though, for the TUF 5 champion against the battle hardened brawler Matt Brown. “The Immortal” has lost his last two after recently going on a seven fight win streak but, considering those two losses were to the most recent welterweight champions Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks via decision, there is no shame in that.
There you go. @UFCTonight announced it. Fighting Nate Diaz July 11th…. Can you say #fireworks

This fight is another mouth watering addition to the UFC 189 card already containing Nelson vs. Hathaway, MacDonald vs. Lawler and McGregor vs. Aldo. Now let’s just hope everyone stays healthy!
