After his huge one-elbow KO of Shay Walsh at BAMMA 25 tonight, the organisation’s Bantamweight champion Tom Duquesnoy called out Northern Ireland’s Alan Philpott.
“We like belts at Jackson’s.” Duquesnoy said.
He continued on to say that there’s a guy out there with the BAMMA Lonsdale belt and that he would like to have it.
Duquesnoy, now 13-1-1, knocked out Irishman Damien Rooney in his last fight previous to Saturday which was followed by many calls for the Frenchman to be signed by the UFC. But, he has decided to gain more experience before transitioning over to the big show.
With a record of 15-7 Philpott, though, would be no pushover. The Next-Gen fighter has impressive wins over Nathaniel Wood, Steve McCombe, Andy Young and Liam James. And, with 7 wins in his last 9 outings, he’s in the form of his career.
Philpott replied immediately via twitter and recorded an exclusive video reply with SevereMMA accepting the challenge.
If the fight was to happen, the rescheduled Dublin card at The Point on September 10th seems the likely destination for the bout.
