2016 has been a fairly mixed year for Conor McGregor so far, but today there was some impressive news for the first ever Irish UFC champion as he was named at number 85 on the Forbes top-100 richest athletes of 2016 list.
The list includes names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Maria Sharapova and LeBron James and states that McGregor made this grade with a cool $22 million earned over the last 12 months.
Athletes from 10 sports were featured with 26 baseball players, 21 American Footballers, 18 from basketball and a dozen from soccer. The only runner on the list, at No. 32 ($32.5 million), was Usain Bolt while McGregor was also the only mixed martial artist.
That stock pile will increase dramatically come August 20th when McGregor takes on Nathan Diaz in a rematch at UFC 202 which looks like being just as big as the first meeting.
