MMAFighting are reporting that former UFC welterweight title contender Rory MacDonald is set to sign with Bellator MMA.
UPDATE: Bellator confirmed the news during its Friday night broadcast.
MMA Fighting sources say that the UFC decided not to match Bellator’s offer.
MacDonald is 9-4 inside the Octagon having fought top competition throughout his stint with the promotion.
“The Red King” decided to fight out his contract with the UFC and test free agency after losing back to back fights to then champion Robbie Lawler in July 2015, in what was one of the best fights in recent memory and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson back in June 2016.
Good for Rory, he deserves to make some money with Bellator, I just hope that nose heals up properly before he debuts, he’s always been an exciting fighter to watch and I’m sure he will get some great match-ups at Bellator, Good luck to the Red King!
