Myles Price has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming BAMMA 28 bout with Lonsdale champion Rhys McKee due to an injury to his rib. The change was first reported by @Talk_Fight on Twitter.
The bout was set for BAMMA and Bellator’s collaboration event in Belfast this February.
Niall McGrath caught up with Rhys McKee about the situation this evening:
“I’m gutted but I called this, I’m sure someone else will be eager for the fight, regardless of who it is it will be the same outcome.”
“I don’t care who the opponent is. I look forward to completing in Belfast in front of my own crowd.”
Myles Prices’ coach Andy Ryan revealed to us that he was the one to pull Price from the bout when he found out about the rib injury as he didn’t want to “let them down by having to pull him [Price] last minute”
“I pulled Myles from the bout as a show of respect to Rhys and Rodney Moore [Rhys’ head coach] as Myles can’t train for 3-4 weeks and I didn’t want to let them down by having to pull him last minute.
“I’m not too happy about this myself. With a bit of luck Myles will be back in the Summer.”
McKee is expected to remain on the card and the promotion will likely seek a replacement opponent for the Lonsdale title.
