UFC Fight Night 107 is coming together nicely, as six fights have just been added to the card for 18th March at London’s O2 Arena. The most notable so far is that of Henry Briones (16-6-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs Brad Pickett (25-13 MMA, 5-8 UFC), with the veteran English bantamweight widely expected to hang up his gloves after the fight.
Pickett’s last fight was a decision loss to Urijah Faber, in what turned out to be Faber’s farewell. Perhaps bolstered by the send-off received by the Californian in his hometown of Sacramento, Pickett iterated that he too wanted to end his career on home soil. However, this won’t be a straightforward one for the London native, as Briones has won 14 out of 16 fights via stoppage and has previously gone the distance with current bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt.
While we await a headliner, UFC Fight Night 107 still has a few more interesting matchups on offer. The pick of the bunch so far is lightweight prospect, Marc “Bonecrusher” Diakiese (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), taking on submission specialist Teemu Packalen (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC). Diakiese is fresh off a decision victory over Frankie Perez in December, while Packalen hasn’t fought since his 24-second submission of Thiabault Gouti in London last February.
Tom Breese (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) looks to recover from a split decision loss to Sean Strickland by squaring off against Oluwale Bamgbose (6-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at middleweight. Bamgbose is also hoping to bounce back after he ended up on the wrong side of a decision in his last bout with Cezar Ferreira. Another middleweight bout between Bradley Scott (10-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and Scott Askham (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is also pencilled in, with both men looking to rebound from losses in their last outings.
Elsewhere on the card, Darren Stewart (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) rematches Francimar Barroso (18-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) in a light heavyweight clash after their previous fight ended in a no-contest, while Leon Edwards (12-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) steps up against Vicente Luque (11-5-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at welterweight.
