On the day that Invicta fighting championships announced its first live event on UFC fight pass, there was even more good news for women’s MMA as the UFC announced the signing of highly touted prospect Holly Holm.
Holm is a former professional world champion boxer who has amassed knockouts in six of her unbeaten seven career fights to date. The signing was announced by UFC president Dana White via Twitter.
Holm is the current Legacy FC women’s bantamweight champion and trains out of Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA with training partners like Sarah Kaufman and former UFC fighter Julie Kedzie.
Champion Ronda Rousey has dominated the division since its inception just over a year ago. Holm, though, brings a new dimension with striking credentials unlike any other in the division. With one or two Octagon wins she should be knocking on the door of the champion.
