The rematch is on…. again.
The UFC confirmed today on the UFC 199 broadcast that Nathan Diaz will fight Conor McGregor in Las Vegas at UFC 202 on 20th August 2016.
Initially the pair were set to rematch at UFC 200 in July but that was cancelled by the UFC after McGregor refused to attend a press-conference months before the fight.
In the first outing, Diaz entered on short notice but tapped McGregor after rocking him on the feet in the second round after the Irishman had dominated on the feet in the first round.
In the immediate aftermath, it looked like McGregor would move back down in weight but when the record breaking numbers became known, it was virtually impossible for all the involved parties not to make the fight again.
The rematch, like the first fight, will take place between career lightweight Diaz and featherweight champion McGregor at welterweight.
