Following a fantastic maiden MMA performance last Friday at Bellator 275, Darragh Kelly has now signed a long-term contract with the American promotion. SevereMMA’s Sean Sheehan confirmed the news with Bellator officials, and Kelly’s coach John Kavanagh further provided confirmation on Twitter.
Kelly was the 2020 SevereMMA Amateur of the year and was due to make his professional debut in November of last year at Bellator 270. Unfortunately his opponent Junior Morgan fell out of the fight after weigh-ins, and the pair instead met last Friday. It was worth the weight for Kelly, though, who made light work of Morgan and choked him out in round one.
Speaking to media on Friday Kelly was boisterous about the future, saying; “I’ve been on the sidelines for long enough, I’m ready to get my fucking name out there.” This contract is the perfect opportunity to do that.
